Shelby Mission Camp

Departure:

  • Day/Date: Wednesday, June 27th
  • Time – Your discretion - Plan your arrival in such a way that you will be ready for a 7 PM meeting. Dinner is not provided on Wednesday.

Return:

Either Saturday June 30, 2018 or Sunday, July 1, 2018 - after church on Sunday, Please notify us well in advance of your departure date and time. It is important for meal planning. For example if you will not be having lunch on Saturday.

Transportation:

  • Option 1: Drive yourself
  • Option 2: Ride w/someone and share gas cost
  • Option 3: Church Vans if any are available

Fees:

$63 per person, if leaving on Saturday
$84 Per Person, if Leaving on Sunday
Checks should be payable to ABA/NSBA

Housing:

Women and Men Bunkhouses. You will be assigned sleeping quarters. Please use your assigned rooms. No snacks in your rooms. Refrigerator will be provided for medicines that require refrigeration. Please write your name and Date on refrigerated items.

Food/Meals:

  • Breakfast 7:00 am – 7:30 Am
    (Provided Thursday – Sunday (Cold Breakfast Sunday)
  • Lunch 12:00PM – 1:00 PM (Bagged Lunches)
  • Dinner 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM (Thursday – Friday) We will be eating out on Saturday for those staying due to the varying departure times.

What to Bring:

  • Devotional material/Bibles
  • Toiletries – Towels/Wash Clothes
  • Bedding – Pillows and twin Sized sheets
  • Flashlight
  • Sunscreen
  • Sandals for the Shower
  • Insect Repellent
  • Snacks
  • Insurance Card
  • Medicine
  • Earplugs (If sensitive to snoring)
  • Lawn Chair (to be used during free time)
  • Work Clothes and shoes (See Dress Code)
  • Equipment/tools to take: Personal Hand tools (Hammers/Measuring Tapes, gloves, Safety glasses)
  • Most major tools are provided.

Dress Code:

T-shirts or work shirts on the project site and at the camp. No Cutoffs, ripped sleeves, shirts with offensive language/questionable graphics or text. No tight knitted tank tops. Factory sleeveless shirts are okay. Shorts must be at least mid-thigh in length. Please use same dress code when going to and from showers. Closed toed shoes on the job site.

General Info:

Mission camp gates are locked at 10:00 PM. Please be in at this time or make arrangements with the Henderson. Quiet time 10:30, Lights out at 11:00 PM.

The camp is not responsible for lost or stolen property.

Vehicle parking is provided onsite the gate in the rear of the main building. Do not block the road or entrances.

Housekeeping:

Bag trash and carry to the dumpster, make a daily clean sweep of your room to check for wet clothing, towels/linens, personal items or any electrical items that have been left on (Curling irons etc.) Do a general clean up each day (Sinks, toilets, showers and floors) before leaving for your project site. Do not store or have food in your sleeping area (the camp has a problem with ants). Clean the showers after you use them so they will be ready for the next person. Please keep the shower curtains inside the shower stall to prevent flooding. Pick up after yourselves in the dining hall and common areas.

Skills you need to have:

A willingness to work and be a disciple for God

Each church is asked to bring 2-48qt Coolers. This will provide ample coolers on job sites
